Squeeze Me
That's it.This little bumpstop in the vast internet landscape has finally degenerated... The demands of a workaholic life and the desire to spend my time with Heroes, BSG, and football on my DVR have reduced my contributions on this weblog to useless bits about stupid mp3s on the laptop and materialistic pursuits of useless toys like the Squeezebox.
Dear Santa...all I want for Christmas is one of these.

Not really just for multi-room setups. The real joy about this toy is eliminating CDs...Rip your CD collection using EAC then compress using flac, store on a hard drive, stream over WiFi to Squeezebox, CD-quality audio direct to your stereo. DACs in laptops/PCs these days are pretty crappy. This tiny box not only replaces the need to have a PC next to your stereo, but it also eliminates the need to buy a high quality USB DAC for your PC (which is almost the same price as the Squeezebox).
Oh and the other cool thing about Squeezebox is that you could listen to internet music streams that broadcast in quality that's WAAAY better than lossy mp3 streams.
And hell...it looks cool. Isn't that enough of a reason? :)
